Tushar Mehta Re-Appointed As Solicitor General, Terms Of ASG’s Extended And Names Of Two Former ASG’s Dropped From The List
The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the re-appointment of Tushar Mehta as Solicitor General of India for a period of 3 years with effect from July 1.
The Committee has further reappointed 5 Additional Solicitor Generals for a period of 3 years with effect from 1st July. The ASG’s appointed are Vikramjit Banerjee, Aman Lekhi, Madhavi Godaria Divan, KM Nataraj and Sanjay Jain.
Among the 5 ASG’s reappointed, the names of Pinky Anand and Atmaram Nadkarni have been dropped from the previous list.
For the High Courts, of Bombay and Punjab and Haryana, Senior Advocates Anil C. Singh and Satya Pal Jain have been reappointed as the ASG’s respectively, for a period of three years with effects from July 1.
Senior Advocates Balbir Singh, Suryaprakash V. Raju, Rupinder Singh Suri, N. Venkataraman, Jayant K. Sud and Aishwarya Bhati have been appointed as the Additional Solicitor General for Supreme Court for a period of 3 years with effect from July 1.
Five Senior Advocates/ Advocates have been appointed as ASGs for High Courts for a period of 3 years with effect from July 1. The ASG’s appointed are as follows.
- Sr. Adv. Yezdezard Jehangir Dastoor for Calcutta High Court
- Sr. Adv. Chetan Sharma for Delhi High Court
- Sr. Adv. R. Sankarnarayanan for Madras High Court,
- Sr. Adv. Dr. Krishna Nandan Singh for Patna High Court
- Adv. Devang Girish Vyas for Gujarat High Court
