The Bombay High Court issued notice on a Public Interest litigation (PIL) filed inviting attention of the High Court to the side effects and consequences of online gaming. The petitioner, a lawyer seeks regulation of such activities by the concerned respondents. A copy of the Tamilnadu Pohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Act, 2022 is placed on record. From the preamble to the said Act , the Bench noted that on the basis of surveys conducted, various effects of online gaming on school students were noticed requiring such steps to be taken by the said State Government. The Nagpur Division Bench of Justice AS Chandurkar and Justice Vrushali V. Joshin granted leave to correct the description of the respondents and directed that thereafter, issue notice to the respondents.
