Geetika Sharma death case: Rouse Avenue Court acquits former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda

Rouse Avenue Court

A Delhi court on Tuesday acquitted former Haryana Minister of State for Home Affairs & Sirsa MLA Gopal Goyal Kanda and his aide Aruna Chadha in a case related to alleged abetment to suicide of former air hostess Geetika Sharma.

Earlier on July 20, the Rouse Avenue Court had deferred it’s verdict in the 11-year-old case to July 25.

Kanda has been charged with abetment to suicide, criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy in the case.

Sharma was working as an employee at Kanda’s now-defunct MDLR Airlines. She had allegedly committed suicide at her Ashok Vihar home on August 5, 2012.

She was initially appointed as an air hostess and was later made a Director in one of Kanda’s corporate offices in Gurugram.

In her suicide note, Sharma had alleged Kanda and Aruna Chadha of harassing her. Following her death, a case was registered at the Bharat Nagar police station under various Sections of the IPC and the IT Act.
